Leeds Youth Opera

Performance, development and musical education opportunities for young people in Leeds and beyond

Leeds Youth Opera (LYO) perform (among other things) two fully staged shows per academic year: one in February and one in July.

Contact us to discover how you can join LYO! The next show will be a unique opportunity to perform Puccini’s La bohème. There are exciting discussions at the moment at LYO HQ about future programming – watch this space.

Summer school spaces now available

Summer School 2017 confirmed – 14th – 18th August.

The week will be packed full of singing, dancing and acting – featuring some musical theatre and opera favourites and is a fabulous introduction to performance for young people of all abilities. Working with our own Artistic Director, participants will work towards an hour long performance at the end of the week. More information here.

Junior LYO

We are currently planning an exciting launch! Junior LYO will give children aged 8-12 years old (who cannot yet join the main company) a chance to workshop with our very own Artistic Director every week! These will be an exceptionally fun way to learn about choral music, movement and performance. A chance to join our Award Winning company much younger! The plan is to start this after the summer holidays. Express an interest here.

We are always on the look out for talented young musicians to play in our orchestras. Email tomnewall@hotmail.com to receive updates on auditions.
